How does our favorite Sunday School answer (Jesus!) frame our ministries?


Come to the Children’s Ministry Summit to find out! Dr. Emily McGowin, author or

“Households of Faith”, will present a new paradigm for ministries to the families within

the framework of the church and the kingdom of God. Her message is supported by

traditional church methods and Scriptures, aiming to “empower and encourage families

to live as households of faith (10)”.


Throughout her text, Dr. McGowin inspires us to consider the Gospel of John as a

framework for ministering to families – rather than basing our ministry practices primarily

from Genesis. She argues that Jesus is the creator of all things, including the family. As

such, we can learn to minister to others by knowing Him and responding to His call to

“follow Him.” These methods inspire daily family life as well as spiritual practices such

as the Eucharist or baptism.
